Reproduction Services

Guidelines

Reproductions of non-circulating materials (archives, rare books and manuscripts) must be requested through the Specialized Research Collections Request System. Patrons are asked to initiate reproduction requests by completing the Reproduction Request Form.

  • Reproduction of library materials is a fee-based service.
  • All scans are high resolution, archival quality reproductions and suitable for publication.
  • We do not provide low resolution copies at a reduced cost.
  • Permission to reproduce special collections material is handled on a case-by-case basis depending on the condition of the material and any existing rights issues. If we believe that the item is too fragile or might be damaged through reproduction, the request will be denied.
  • The USC Digital Imaging Lab handles all reproduction requests.
  • Reproduction requests are filled as time and staffing permit.
  • Reproduction requests may be subject to copyright restrictions and/or fair use guidelines.
  • Additional restrictions, including donor agreements, may apply.
  • If you intend to publish material from Special Collections or the Digital Library, please see the appropriate Fee Schedule for information about  licensing fees. Supplying a photocopy is not an authorization to publish.
  • Limit: 100 reproductions per project.
  • Patrons requesting the use of audio-visual materials for research must pay to have those materials digitized before they can be used.
  • All reproduction work has fees attached. Please refer to the appropriate fee schedule for costs.
