Library Highlights

  • Library's 1st floor features enhanced collaborative and lounge seating, flexible dual use information instruction and study space, research workstations, and a cozy new book nook.

Over 90% of the science and engineering journal subscriptions are currently acquired in electronic format making the content available to members of the USC community anytime, any place via the USC Libraries' electronic resources list. When possible, backfiles covering previous years are also included. Current titles and older volumes available only in print format are shelved alphabetically on the 2nd floor. Once accessible electronically, most older volumes are stored in the Grand Avenue Library and may be paged via USC Libraries Catalog, and delivered to the Science & Engineering Circulation Desk (choose Science & Engineering on the pull-down paging request menu).

A 2,000 volume reference collection, available on the 3rd floor, supplements an extensive array of electronic reference resources. Many recent publications from major publishers are being acquired in electronic format. E-books and reference tools can be found by searching USC Libraries Catalog and the USC Libraries' electronic resources list.

Newly received print titles are featured in the new book nook to the right of the entrance. Over 80,000 books are shelved on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with many less used titles available for paging from the Grand Avenue Library.

The Finch Science Archive is housed in Science Library. The Finch Science collection covers a broad and eclectic range in research related to aging.  The materials explore archeology, history, and anthropology, which shows us how old age was considered in the ancient past. The collection also contains materials germane to environmental factors which impact how we age.
