Faculty Dr. Melissa L. Miller Head, Hoose Library of Philosophy / Humanities Librarian Office located in MHP 202, email@example.com, Curriculum Vitae Dr. Miller is responsible for cultivating collaborative partnerships with fellow faculty members, staff and students in interdisciplinary research and projects. She also provides interdisciplinary research consultation and instruction in the use of library services and resources to faculty, students, and staff in Philosophy, Religion, Anthropology, Linguistics, Comparative Literature, History of Science & Technology, and the related disciplines of Humanities and Digital Humanities. In addition, she is responsible for developing and maintaining the print and digital collections in the Hoose Library of Philosophy. Prior to that, she was the Library Supervisor for the Hoose Library of Philosophy for five years. A few of her responsibilities include mentoring and training prospective academic librarians, such as library supervisor Rebecca Michelson. She collaborates with Rebecca monthly on the design and content for the monthly exhibits on display, the monthly Hoose Library of Philosophy Newsletter and the Did You Know? Recently Dr. Miller joined the USC Marshall School of Business teaching faculty as an adjunct assistant professor for the Master of Management in Library and Information Science (MMLIS) online program. She is the instructor for the Research and Professional Applications: Internship program. Dr. Miller is a first-generation college graduate who earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) with a focus in Educational Psychology (Dissertation: Mind, Motivation, and Meaningful Learning: A Cognitive Science Approach to Learning How to Learn) from USC Rossier School of Education in 2018, a Master of Management in Library and Information Science (M.M.L.I.S.) from USC Marshall School of Business in 2014, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (B.A.) from USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences which she completed as a non-traditional transfer student from Pasadena City College with two Associate in Arts degrees in Humanities (A.A.) and Social and Behavioral Sciences (A.A.) in 2013. Her primary location is in Leavey Library during the evenings and weekends. At the Hoose Library of Philosophy some of Rebecca's responsibilities are: managing student assistants including hiring, training, and payroll; and reporting weekly and monthly library statistics including gatecount, headcount and reference data. She also manages updating the records in the USC Libraries Integrated Library System (ILS) for the Hoose Library of Philosophy collections, both print and digital, to ensure access for our patrons. Rebecca is an active collaborator with the Head of Hoose Library of Philosophy, Dr. Melissa Miller, in interdisciplinary projects, such as the monthly exhibits on display, the monthly Hoose Library of Philosophy Newsletter and the Did You Know?
