This book consists of selections from the writings of Cassius Dio (c. 155-235), a Roman statesman and historian who published 80 volumes on ancient Roman history; and selections by Spartianus, Capitolinus, Lampridius and Gallicanus from Scriptoes historiae Augustae, a compilation of works by six different authors written during the reigns of Diocletian and Constantine I and consisting of thirty biographies of Roman emperors.
