THE TRAILBLAZING ZOELLNER FAMILY QUARTET OF BRUSSELS AND LOS ANGELES, 1904–1954

Once called "the most celebrated musical organization in the West,” the Zoellner Quartet was a family ensemble of musicians from Brooklyn who toured internationally, premiered new compositions, and eventually settled in Los Angeles where they opened music conservatories in Hollywood, Burbank, and the current location of the Wilshire/Western Metro station.

The Honourable Alexandra Foley, great-granddaughter of quartet founder Joseph Zoellner, Sr., will present a lecture derived from her forthcoming book on the ensemble, followed by a performance of selections from their touring repertoire by students from the Thornton School of Music.
