USC Alumni Day of SCervice at ONE Archives

ONE Archives

On Saturday, March 23, the USC Libraries facilities team led a dozen volunteers recruited from the USC Alumni Day of SCervice program to refresh and update the native cactus garden at the ONE Archives, located at 909 W. Adams Blvd. near USC's University Park Campus.

The goal of the effort led by the libraries' Tom Goller, Mykel Montes, and Steven Montes was transforming the cactus garden into a more enjoyable and welcoming green space for everyone who visits ONE Archives—including students, faculty, staff, and community members. The volunteers, who included Gabe Contreras and Leslie Moreno of the USC Libraries, undertook a comprehensive project to remove weeds, dead leaves, and brush and plant 15 native Californian succulents in various locations throughout the cactus garden.

The Alumni Day of SCervice helps Trojans come together to make a difference in their local communities by participating in service projects like the beautification of the native cactus garden at ONE Archives.

Other service opportunities for alumni at the USC campus this spring included projects hosted by the Joint Educational Project House, Keck Hospital of USC, the USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience, the Harlyne J. Norris Cancer Research Tower, the USC School of Pharmacy, and the University Religious Center.
