Special Collections Images Featured on Metro Library Blog

One of the photos included in the Metro Library post, showing crowds at the 1939 opening of L.A.'s Union Station. From the USC Libraries' Los Angeles Examiner Collection.

In a recent post to its Primary Resources blog about the 72nd anniversary of Union Station's opening, the L.A. County MTA Library (Metro Library) featured several historical images from the USC Libraries' Special Collections. Two photos—from the libraries' Los Angeles Examiner and Title Insurance and Trust / C.C. Pierce Photography collections—show crowds celebrating the station's opening, and another image depicts early plans to build the passenger rail terminal at an alternative site south of its current location. Please read the Metro Library story to learn more, and don't miss a recent L.A. as Subject post on KCET's website for more archived images from the station's past.
