Seeing Los Angeles: Exploring the InVisible City

In the vast geography of Southern California, communities and histories disappear between freeway exits. Offering new ways of looking at a city that few residents ever experience in its entirety, the Visions and Voices event includes a panel discussion with award-winning poet Marisela Norte, USC professor of American studies and ethnicity George Sanchez, and writer and Lakewood city official D.J. Waldie. The event is scheduled for Monday, March 30 at 4:00 p.m. in Doheny Library.

Librarians Dace Taube and Sue Tyson collaborated on a multimedia research guide in support of the event. Visit their guide for historic photographs, WPA maps, recommended reading, and more. Seeing Los Angeles: Exploring the InVisible City was organized by the USC Libraries and the Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities and co-sponsored by El Centro Chicano.
