The Personal is Wearable: LGBT T-Shirt Exhibition at Library for International and Public Affairs

The Personal is Wearable: Political T-Shirts from LBGT History is now on display in the entrance lobby exhibition space of USC's Library for International and Public Affairs. Curated by McNair Scholar Rebecca Das (who's double-majoring in anthropology and gender studies), the exhibition highlights political t-shirts from the ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives, which are affiliated with the USC Libraries. The exhibition is sponsored by the library and runs through May 8.

Librarian Robert Labaree writes: "The t-shirts, some with humorous messages, some with bold and in-your-face statements, represent how personal identities were crafted and maintained within the LGBT community. The t-shirts also demonstrate how individual members of the LGBT community chose to declare their identities and share and recognize these identities among one another, or in this case, on one another."
