Members of the USC community can now listen to audio files of journal articles and other content from WilsonWeb e-resources on their computers and portable media players. WilsonWeb e-resources in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences now offer a feature, called ReadSpeaker, that converts text to sound files.
ReadSpeaker also makes full-text content accessible to readers with dyslexia and other learning challenges, as well as users whose low vision, blindness, or physical handicap makes it difficult to read a standard printed page.
In addition, members of the USC community who are learning English as a second language can benefit from the feature. It complements another WilsonWeb feature that offers electronic translations of articles into 10 world languages.
ReadSpeaker is currently available on the following WilsonWeb e-resources, which you can access from the list of databases:
You can also see how the feature works by viewing a ReadSpeaker demo.
