Dean Quinlan will join science writer, artist, and director of the Institute for Figuring Margaret Wertheim for an Essential Conversation on Thurs., Feb. 25 at 6:00 p.m. in Doheny Library. Essential Conversations pay tribute to the library's role as a locus for intellectual discovery and an inspiration for cross-disciplinary dialogue. At the inaugural event, Wertheim and Quinlan will discuss the intersections of scientific inquiry, education, and creative expression. RSVP for the event here.
Wertheim and her sister Christine are co-creators of the Crochet Coral Reef project, a collective artwork involving collaborators from New York, Chicago, and cities around the world-which they describe as "a woolly celebration of the intersection of higher geometry and feminine handicraft, and a testimony to the disappearing wonders of the marine world."
