Description:

Louis le Roy was a 16th century classical scholar, political pamphleteer, and universal historian. The "Vicissitudes", his final work (published two years before his death), is the culmination of the development of his views on the nature of history, political and social institutions, and the fate of humankind. While technically a history text, the Vicissitudes is not a narrative of history, but rather a philosophy of history, and is now considered one of the most important examples of 16th century intellectual history.
