Cornelius Aurelius (Cornelis Geritsz) was a 16th century Dutch humanist who wrote poetic, historigraphical, hagiographical, political and theological works. An Augustinian monk, Aurelius was one of the earliest philosophers to embrace Humanism in the Low Countries. This text, considered one of his most important, is a history of creation up to 1517.
