37^th-Annual Scripter Awards

The eligibility guidelines below apply to Scripter awards presented on February 22, 2025.
 

Feature-Length Films 

Live-action and animated English-language, feature-length films based on a book or book series, novella, short story, graphic novel, play, magazine article, game, or characters originating from such written works are eligible. Films must have been released in theatres, on broadcast or cable television, or via commercial streaming platforms domestically during the prior calendar year, January 1–December 31, 2024. 

Episodic Series 

Episodes of live-action and animated English-language series and limited series based on a book or book series, novella, short story, graphic novel, play, magazine article, game, or characters originating from such written works are eligible. Episodes must have been released domestically on broadcast or cable television or via commercial streaming platforms during the prior calendar year, January 1–December 31, 2024. 

Note About the Selection Committee 

The Scripter Award selection committee comprises Writers Guild of America members, Academy Award-winning and -nominated screenwriters, authors, film industry executives, scholars, representatives of the USC Libraries Board of Councilors, and other members of creative and academic communities. The selection committee chair is ineligible to win the Scripter Award while serving in that capacity. Selection committee members are eligible to win while serving on the committee.
