In addition to our course-integrated information literacy instruction, the USC Libraries offers several opportunities for students to be introduced to the Libraries' resources and services. The following workhops are offered each academic year:

Crash Course in Library Research for New Freshmen: At the beginning of the both the Fall and Spring semester, freshmen new to USC are invited to participate in a crash course in library research as part of campus-wide Welcome Week activities. The goal of the orientation is for students to become aquainted with the libary spaces, fundamental elements of research at the USC libraries such as database searching, locating books and print materials, and how to contact a librarian for research help.

Crash Course in Library Research for Transfer Students: At the beginning of the both the Fall and Spring semester, transfer students new to USC are invited to participate in a crash course in library research as part of campus-wide Welcome Week activities. The goal of the orientation to provide transfer students an opporunity to connect with peers entering USC from other insitutiions, and give students a space to ask questions about USC library resources, including spaces, core elements of research at the USC libraries such as database searching, locating books and print materials, and how to contact a librarian for research help.

Graduate Student Library Orientations: At the beginning of the both the Fall and Spring semester, graduate students are invited to partciipate in an introduction to the USC Libraries focused on the unique needs of students conducting advanced disciplinary research. In additon to an overview of library spaces and resources, students will have the opportunity to connect with a library subject specialist, and will leave the workshop able to contact a subject librarian in their own area of research.

The USC Libraries also participates in several campus-wide orientation events, including Family Welcome Weekend, and campus tours.
