Initiation CeremoniesSpring The PKP Spring Initiation Ceremony has traditionally kicked off Commencement Week at USC on the Wednesday before graduation. This event takes place in the Bing Theater and features a special invited keynote speaker. In the spring ceremony we initiate Seniors and Graduate Students together with invited faculty who receive their honorary memberships. We also present the winners of the undergraduate Summer Scholarship Awards for projects over the summer, and the Sterling Franklin Fellowships are awarded to graduating seniors who are starting their graduate work in the fall. As always, we encourage family and friends to attend. Dress is business casual though students often choose to wear their sashes, cords, and other academic honors conferred by their schools or departments. FallEach fall we initiate Juniors into PKP so that in their remaining time at USC they can take advantage of any chapter activities and national scholarships offered. We also honor high achieving Sophomores as an encouragement to continue their high-level academic work. This event is usually smaller in scale so it takes place in historic Doheny Library and, like our spring event, features guest speakers and faculty initiates as well. The USC Libraries have been the administrative home for the PKP program for over a decade!
