Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all print monograph acquisitions and cataloging for USC Libraries;
  • Manages physical backlogs, including cataloging backlogs and donations, etc which need to be checked;
  • Manages monographic and archival acquisitions, ensuring timely purchase and receipt of library materials;
  • Supervises and manages librarians and library assistants within the Acquisitions and Cataloging Department;
  • Trains and advises catalogers on cataloging policy and practice; updates and creates local cataloging documentation and policy as needed;
  • Integrates archival processing and rare books cataloging into tech services, including through membership in the Working Group for Specialized Collections and Technical Services;
  • Participate in management of the USC ILS, such as through membership in the Technical Services-ILS Working Group;
  • Remain up to date on library and scholarly trends and practices relevant to the Acquisitions and Cataloging Department, and keep members of the department informed on these.
