DML 240 - Friends of the USC Libraries Lecture Hall

NOTE: DML 233 and DML 241 are not available for room reservations.

Acceptable use of DML 240 is only for one time academic-related activities, such as special lectures or readings. Due to high demand for our spaces from campus groups, we can not accept reservations for meetings, classes, or other nonacademic uses. The space is not available on the weekends. 

Venue guidelines for review and compliance:

1. USC Libraries Usage of Space
· While the USC Libraries permits the use of its spaces, it is NOT a full-service conference center and does NOT provide event management, facilities, or technical support.
· It is the responsibility of the Client organizing the event to ensure compliance with USC policies and arrange for any required services, including audiovisual support, room setup, catering, custodial services, and parking.
· The reservation start time is the event start time. Clients are allowed one hour before and one hour after the event for set-up and clean-up, unless the building is closed beyond those times. 

2. USC Events Permit Application 
· Complete the required USC Events Permit Application https://dps.usc.edu/services/usc-events-permit-application/
o Event: A scheduled gathering of 25 or more people.
o Meeting: Meetings where food is served to 25 or more people require a permit.

3. USC Campus Access 
At this time, government issued photo ID’s are no longer mandatory (although they may be requested at any time) and campus is open to the public. 

All guests are still required to comply with USC guidelines regarding freedom of expression, and follow directives of all authorized USC personnel, including DPS and Fire & Safety. https://freeexpression.usc.edu/

4. Building and Room Hours 
· For building and room hours, visit the USC Libraries https://libraries.usc.edu/locations/doheny-memorial-library website. Please note, requests for extended building hours are not accepted.

5. General Building Operations 
· For questions regarding general building operations, contact the USC Libraries Facilities Office at facilities@lib.usc.edu 

6. Audio-Visual Needs 
· USC Libraries does NOT provide technical support for equipment in the event spaces.
· The Friends of the USC Libraries Lecture Hall (Room 240) is equipped with built-in audio, wireless microphones, a projector, a screen, and Zoom capabilities.
· If wireless microphones are used, please return all microphones to the charging base station inside the podium (with labels facing outward), and ensure the podium is locked.
· Clients must provide their own laptops if required.

7. Vendor Access 
· For vendor access (catering, AV, rentals, etc.) to Doheny Memorial Library (DML)
o The north door is NOT staffed, and the south entrance is for persons with disabilities access ONLY.
o If a vendor hired by the Client requires ramp access at the DML north door loading dock, please contact Mykel Montes, Facilities Assistant, at mykelmon@usc.edu at least 5 days prior to your event to request swipe card access.
· If swipe card access is granted, the Client is responsible for ensuring the loading dock access point remains unobstructed. The doors cannot be propped open at any time for the safety and security of library students, faculty, and personnel.

8. Cleanup and Disposal 
· Please ensure all trash, recycling, and compost are properly disposed of in the dumpster on the north side of DML following the event.

9. Parking 
· For directions to the nearest parking lot, refer to the USC campus map.

10. Event Manager and Planning Tools 
· If you need assistance with event management or planning tools, please visit the USC Office of Cultural Relations and University Events website https://events.usc.edu/

11. Cancellations 
· Cancellations must be made at least 3 business days in advance. If you need to cancel your event, contact our office directly at pajohnso@usc.edu.

12. Room Condition 
· Please ensure the room is left clean and in good condition after the event. All areas must be properly restored to their original state. Repeated violations may result in suspension of reservation privileges.
