French and Francophone studies are multidisciplinary and require different research strategies depending on the scope and focus of any specific topic.   Here you will find multiple resources in support of the teaching, research, and initiatives of our French and Italian Department, our Francophone Research and Resource Center, and our Graduate Program in French and Francophone Studies.

French 307: Paris Maymester 2021, Public memory  and the Ghosts of History. This course explores "(...) ghostly figures of the past that are left behind, or that emerge, within the cultural spaces of the French République. We will set out not so much to summon or even to search for these ghosts, but rather to develop a critical approach to historical and cultural texts that will prepare us to encounter them, first-hand (...) [and] make sense of these spectral encounters, constructing new meanings around questions of loss, trauma, and political violence."
