Off the Margins: A Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Event
February 1, 2016 - February 1, 2016
3pm

With Wikipedia being one of the most popular destination online for information-seekers, it's critical that entries are as diverse, inclusive, and representative as its users. At this three-hour event, guests are welcome to drop in anytime to help transform Wikipedia. All skill levels are welcome.

Kicking off the edit-a-thon at 3:00 p.m. will be a keynote talk by Safiya U. Noble, Assistant Professor of Information Studies at UCLA, and an editor of the forthcoming book, The Intersectional Internet: Race, Sex, and Culture Online.

We will provide editing tutorials for beginners, reference materials, and a sample list of articles that need to be created or updated. Pizza, snacks, and beverages will be provided. For more information or to R.S.V.P., go to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/LA/USC/OTM
