Haunted: A Literary Event with Leo Braudy

Event
November 2, 2016 - November 2, 2016
5:30pm
Doheny Memorial Library

Please join Dean Catherine Quinlan and the Friends of the USC Libraries for a Literary Event with USC University Professor and Bing Professor of English and American Literature Leo Braudy, for a reading from his new book Haunted: On Ghosts, Witches, Vampires, Zombies, and Other Monsters of the Natural and Supernatural Worlds.

Drawing upon historical and literary research in the USC Libraries, Braudy explores how monsters such as King Kong, Frankenstein, Dracula, and Mr. Hyde are projections of our own fears about the unknown—and how the detective genre acts as a rational buttress against the irrational world of the monstrous.
