Tye Pemberton Receives Staff Recognition Award

Faculty and Staff News

This November, the USC Staff Assembly and USC Staff Club are honoring the USC Libraries' Tye Pemberton with their Monthly Staff Recognition Award. The award celebrates Pemberton's contributions to the USC Digital Library, where he serves as digital imaging manager. He'll receive his award at the USC General Staff Assembly Meeting on Friday, November 19, via Zoom.

Pemberton manages a lab of eight imaging specialists who work on a variety of digitization initiatives, including curricular expansion projects, a project with the Defense Imagery Management Operations Center (DIMOC), and grant-funded projects. Their work has made possible a rapid expansion of USC Digital Library collections in recent years, even when most university activities shifted off-campus for the COVID-19 pandemic.

"He kept our lab running during the darkest days of the pandemic," said Digital Library project manager Louise Randolph Smith, who nominated Pemberton for the award, "and he did it safely. He has also expanded our lab into three separate spaces with a variety of equipment."
