USC students looking to study in silence and solitude now have more options at the USC Libraries. Six new soundproof BUBL study pods are now available on a reservation basis inside the second and third-floor lobbies of USC’s Leavey Library.
These self-contained spaces come complete with built-in power outlets and USB ports, adjustable LED lighting, and fresh air ventilation. Made possible through funding from the annual USC Libraries Scripter Awards, the pods are perfect for quiet book study—but also Zoom meetings, job interviews, and virtual classes.
Leavey Library’s first study pod was installed on a trial basis in August 2025. The six new pods came online last month.
The new pods complement a variety of individual and collaborative study spaces throughout Leavey Library. Its Information Commons alone offers thirteen reservable group study rooms for four to six people and two larger rooms accommodating up to fourteen, while open tables, study carrels, reading rooms, and individual cubicles throughout the building offer additional options. Since opening in 1994, Leavey Library has welcomed more than 38 million visitors, making it one of USC’s most heavily used spaces for student study and collaboration.
Students with a valid USC login can reserve a study pod up to seven days in advance. Reservations are limited to two hours per person per day to ensure fair access for all students.
