How the USC Libraries' IT Director Helped Organize the Asian Pacific Islander Community at USC

Linda Truong, managing director of library IT for the USC Libraries, is one of the leading organizers behind a new group that's building ties among the university's Asian Pacific Islander faculty and staff. A recent USC News story by Gustavo Solis profiled the work of the Asian Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff Association and Truong's role in it.

Truong initially teamed up with colleague Grace Ryu of USC's East Asian Studies Center earlier this year, amid a mounting wave of anti-Asian hate and violence. “Why can’t we give ourselves a collective voice," Truong wondered at the time, she told Solis, "and try to create change and awareness about our own community and the issues we struggle with?"⠀

The Asian Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff Association now boasts nearly 200 members and a robust offering of public events and programs. To learn more, see the USC News story, or visit the association's website.
