HBO Documentary Series Features Archival Materials from USC Libraries

Special Collections

Archival materials from the USC Libraries' Paul Morantz papers are featured in a new HBO documentary series, The Synanon Fix. Now streaming on Max, the show tells the story of the controversial drug rehabilitation program that garnered criticism for its cult-like characteristics. Its fifth episode focuses on the legal campaign waged against Synanon by attorney (and USC alumnus) Paul Morantz, whose papers have been part of the USC Libraries' Special Collections since 2014.

A finding aid to the Morantz papers is available here. For more information about the collection, contact Southern California Studies Specialist Suzanne Noruschat.
