Access to Streaming Films through the Kanopy Service

Databases

Owing to significant cost increases for the previous Kanopy subscription model, the libraries have changed to a more focused streaming subscription from Kanopy while providing several alternative sources. We appreciate the value of streaming multimedia to faculty and students and have in place several means of finding and using streaming films for teaching and research, including:

  • A limited subscription to Kanopy that provides access to frequently watched films in their catalog.
    • For those films not readily available to watch, please complete the request form that Kanopy supplies once you have selected that title.
    • A USC librarian will respond to your request.
  • Access to additional streaming services, such as Alexander StreetDocuseek2, and those described in our Streaming Media research guide.

For faculty requesting streaming multimedia for course reserves, please continue using the ARES reserves system. Library staff will search available online resources, including Kanopy, and make alternative arrangements for access if necessary.

Please send any questions about Kanopy or other streaming multimedia services to Anthony Anderson at anthonya@usc.edu.
