All restricted electronic resources require logging in with your USC NetID and Password.
Access to certain electronic resources and Web sites is restricted to the USC community (currently enrolled students, faculty and staff) due to licensing/copyright agreements with vendors and publishers. This page describes additional details about access to restricted content.
Proxy Server
The library's Web site provides seamless access to electronic resources. When you click a link to a database, article, e-book or e-journal from the Web site, you will be prompted to log in to the proxy server with your USC ID (the first part of your USC e-mail address) and password. After logging in, you will be directed automatically to the desired resource.
If you want to log in to the proxy server first, go to the LibProxy login page. Once you are logged in, you will have access to e-resources while your browser session is open. If you start using a different browser or after 90 minutes of inactivity, you will have to log in again.
Your browser must be configured to accept cookies in order to authenticate properly to the USC proxy server.

VPN (Virtual Private Network) Software
An alternative method to accessing e-resources remotely is VPN. VPN, also called IP tunneling, is a secure method of accessing USC computer resources. The VPN encrypts all traffic to and from a host in order to prevent others from viewing the information.
Effective July 1st 2011, users accessing USC Libraries e-resources remotely using the USC VPN connection will be prompted to sign in through Shibboleth using a USC username and password.
The Cisco AnyConnect VPN client is available only to members of the USC community with a USC login. For more information, please visit https://itservices.usc.edu/vpn/.
